AWD Minvan: Options to Consider

March 13th, 2010

If you live in a part of the United States where the weather frequently affects the road conditions then more likely than not an AWD Minivan is the vehicle for you.

The first thought to control driving on hazardous roads is to buy those expensive snow tires but you will soon learn that AWD is less expensive but more effective option. There is more traction, less chance of skidding off the road nad antilock brakes in an All Wheel drive Minivan.

AWD minivans are also less likely to roll over making the percent of being in an accident much less. Insurance companies see an AWD minivan as an added safety measure and see the driver as less of a risk to insure.

You should always test drive different minivans wtih AWD to see which one suits you the best but here are some options. The Honda Odyssey 2010 comes with AWD and is the top rated in its class. The pros are the V6 engine, the confortable drive and the eight passenger seating.

The consumers also liked the ever flexible cargo space. The cons are the seating was found to be suitable for eight children. The Chrysler Town & Country 2010 is another high rated minivan. It gets 17 mph in the city and 24 on the highway.

It has versatile seating options and the ride feels very smooth. The negatives are that some feel the interior is made of poor quality and more power is needed on the base trim. The Kia Sedona received a high rating among consumers.

The price with the mileage of 17 in the city and 23 on the highway proves to be a great deal. The list of standard features is longer than any other minivan. The quality of the interior was rated to be poor and so was the outside design.

The Volkswagen Routan is last on the list when consumers rated the driving experience but rated way up there with the quality of the interior and outer designs. The mileage is sixteen in the city and twenty three on the highway. The ride was rated uncomfortable to some but firm to others.

While the interior was rated more stylish than the Chrysler the seats are not as versatile. Depending on the personal preference of the driver determines which minivan is best but the AWD that is in all the vans listed puts them a cut above the rest.
